* Registered midwives in Ontario are primary caregivers throughout healthy pregnacy, labour and birth, and they continue to care for both mother and baby for six weeks after the baby is born.
* Midwifery has been regulated in Ontario since 1994. Registered midwives work within the standards and guidlines of the College of Midwives of Ontario.
* If a medical concern, either with the mother or the baby, arise during pregnancy, labour, birth or in the six weeks of postpartum care, we consult with the appropriate specialist according to our guidlines. If it becomes necessary we transfer primary care, and then we continue to provide supportive care.
* Midwifery services are fully funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health. There is no charge for midwifery care for residents of Ontario.
* Women do not need a referral to receive midwifery care - simply call our office to get started.
